Only a small precision, I was talking about the Nikon Coolscan V ED, this one has the same price as the Minolta Dimage Elite 5400 II, I think that the more expensive you said was the Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED, almost twice priced than the other. Saludos desde - a very hot - Barcelona, and thanks again for your advice! In this case Fuji Acros in Xtol 1:3. Currently I am using a by now obsolete Kodak 3600 Scanner: obsolete in the sense that it only scans at 3600 dpi and its density range was only claimed to be 3.2 or 3.4. As to the scanners you mentioned, the Minolta will give you a better image both in resolution and in density range. What the Nikon offers is two to three years of service with no real problems in build quality or software glitches. The Minolta needed a version II rather quickly as the build quality of some of the components and the software was not what it should have been. I have looked at the version II machine and most/all of the initial concerns seem to have been addressed. So, it comes down to the new kid on the block or the proven time tested device. Of course the Minolta is about half the price of the NIkon... Thank you for taking the time to look at my images.
