You want a city with great photo opportunities?  Try Ankor in
Cambodia.  Greatest trip I ever made in my life.  You prefer a city
with people in it?  Hong Kong or Bangkok offer great opportunities for
people photos.  Generally, many Asian countries offer more bang for
the buck if you are willing to eat and sleep more like the locals. 
This more than compensates for the greater cost of flying there.
