There is something about that viewfinder that doesn't agree with my eyes. And the biggest problem with the Leica III's and the early Leica M cameras is that the viewfinder and hard metal advance lever gouge my eyeglasses (eyeglasses were glass when those cameras were made). I've gouged over $1,000 worth of eyeglasses with my Leica M3 and a few Russian RFs. Internal light meters are also a welcome feature. I've been more inclined to carry a Bessa R3a now that it has a small, fast lens on it. That may cure me of my fixed lens rangefinder envy. -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+jls=runbox.com@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+jls=runbox.com@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of mak@teleport.com Sent: Friday, June 24, 2005 9:31 AM To: Leica Users Group Subject: RE: [Leica] Yasuhara Reccieved Quick Review--why buy one? Why would anyone want to purchase an American made Kardon for $2500? A British made Reid for $2000? A Japanese Made Kwanon for $20,000 when you can buy a real really nice IIIc or IIIf for $400? 1. It is fun and funky 2. They did not make many of them 3. I can use a fun and funky camera, show it off and loan it to fellow Leica nut friends (www.bluemooncamera.com) and maybe sell it ina year or a decade for probably as much or more than I paid for it... I hate to ask a dumb question, but why would anyone want to buy a Chinese- made Yasuhara for $600 when you can buy a solid, proven Canon model P for 1/2 that much? I would welcome a fixed lens RF from Cosina even if it was put in a plastic R type of body. But I suspect that this remaining stock of Yasuharas will be the last fixed lens rangefinders I'll see in my lifetime.
