Hi Ernie,
just did it recently on a Fujitsu-Siemens. It does work with a Spyder-2.
Even though my laptop had no separate controls for contrast and 
brightness. Just remember to turn off Adobe Gamma before you start 
calibrating.
You may find that the new profile is a bit dull, the colours are however 
correct, just turn Adobe Gamma on again and shift the settings based on 
your new profile.
