Replying to my previous post -- Lager states in vol. 2 that the Summaron 
35mm and at least some of the Summicron 35mm lenses were built as I 
described and that the lens chassis was in fact a LTM chassis so, yes, it 
would appear to be physically feasible to do as you mentioned.
