I don't see what you're driving at. DNG is supported for CS1 and
further on. The latest conversion software is for CS2 only - the one
that does the new Nikon. BUT once the RAW image is converted to DNG
CS1 will read it.

Of course no one made you convert your RAW file from whatever vendor
to DNG in the first place. And your original RAW to TIFF (or whatever)
conversion utility should still work.
