Yes, it is possible that the German made lens is made with more manufacturing precision ( define it as you will), therefore a justifiably higher price. But not the multiples that the Leicas and Zeisses have been charging. It is simply the basic law of marketing: Charge what the market will bear. Distasteful? Maybe.. some call it gouging..... and still others buy something else. Frank Filippone red735i@earthlink.net I don't really understand the higher prices, particularly for an 85mm lens. Wages in Japan are comparable to wages in Germany, and an 85mm lens isn't a niche item or all that exotic. What gives? Just jacking up prices for the "Made in Germany" mystique? If so, I find that distasteful. Scott Frank F. Farmer wrote: >The Zeiss lenses are now listed for sale at the B&H site. For a while only the body was listed. Anyway, for the most part, pricing seems to be as speculated at around 2/3 the Leica counterpart's price. However, the 15mm is almost $4K and the 85mm is almost $3K. > >http://tinyurl.com/652ek > >Just FYI. > >Frank > >_______________________________________________ >Leica Users Group. >See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information > > _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
