But instead of turning it on when I need it, I have backed it up onto DVD's. I use them to pull off files I want to work with instead of cranking up the harddisk. DVD isn't my "backup", it's my "working medium". A little time-consuming, but I usually let them burn while I'm off doing something else. But I don't need to pull them up very often. I keep another 160 GB internal disk full of files I think I'll need.
