Obviously you are using an R, so I'd stay with it and forget everything else. Why waste time thinking about switching and have the added concerns of learning a new piece of equipment when your complete concentration should be on the assignment. The 19mm is a fine lens indeed, but I'd be looking at a 15mm or have both! I've used mine on similar assignments since I bought it about '82-'83? And on similar projects as you're working on without tripod and had excellent results. >>Also, I have no idea of what will interest researchers twenty years from >>now. It is not a matter of framing, so much a matter of preserving as much >>information as I can.<<<<<< You can't possibly even guess what they may think, a waste of time on your part, just do what you feel is right in every detail you find of interest, hell in 20-30 years the building may not even be there. Just produce the best you can in every detail that motivates you and leave it at that. And certainly scan every foot of a wall or fence or whatever for minor details you feel might be of some importance. Then shoot it! >>> I want to document these sites, and it turns out that what is of >>> interest might well be a poster on the wall (but I only discover this >>> later). <<<<<<<<<, This is all the more reason to look harder and "SEE BETTER" while you're shooting and not finding things in the print after the fact . And again, don't waste time wondering what someone 30-50 years down the line is going to want! An impossible task! ted
