Frank,

I don't think distance has anything to do with it! As Peter says, Surrey
tends to have plain skies. There's something about Surrey that prevents us
getting big white fluffy clouds. I have seen them around but only maybe once
or twice a year. Perhaps they're absorbed by London's pollution.

?????????????? GB is surely only about 60 miles north of you! The 
weather does not differ much between Hampshire and Northants, where I 
used to live.
