I get "klutz attacks" where for no reason known to humanity I'll briefly become so clumsy that nothing anywhere near me is safe from being dropped, stepped on, run into... you get the picture. So yesterday I have this klutz attack and the 280 APO+chrome SL2 are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Do I need to go into the details? Lens and camera are on a FedEx airplane to the hospital in Northvale; the lens will have to be transferred to intensive care in Solms. @&!!* I'm now a few hours away from the actual event and the self-butt-kicking has subsided; panic has gradually set in. Going without the 280 APO for any length of time is a problem, and given the time it's taken John Collier's lens to return I have nightmares of going the entire spring and most of the summer - prime time for the 280 - with nothing in the 300mm range. Suitable fill-ins? I'm open to suggestion, either brand L or brand N. There's really no substitute for an APO-Telyt. Doug Herr Birdman of Sacramento http://www.wildlightphoto.com
