If you do NOT already have some Leica glass and if your goal is getting into digital, then you will probably find a Canon 20D or Nikon D70, Olympus E-1 etc. will be a lot more satisfying. I bought an M7 almost 2 years ago and have really fallen in love with the RF magic. I have some expensive Leica glass, so to me the R-D1 is worth it. If *I* am going to move to digital, why bother to spend money on another system when I can use my Leica glass on the digital body? As for quality of the lens, I love mine. However, people who have been shooting forever and not equipment bigots say that if you select the finest from most manufacturers, most of the time, the limiting factor is not the lens, but the (film/sensor, lack of use of tripod, bad photographing technique etc.) My advice is that if you want to get into the Leica magic, start with the M7 and build a lens collection around it. If you want to do digital, get a Canon 20D. Either will give you superb technical images. The rest is up to you :-) At 03:44 PM 1/1/2005, Christopher Driggett wrote: >Don, > Thanks.
