Delivery maybe in the late fall with a few numbers to make the marketing people happy: we are shipping the D2x now. The reality is that Nikon has been seriously late delivering bodies since the F5 debuted at the 96 Olympics, but you couldn't really buy one until January of the following year. If you are high on the Nikon Professional list then you will be fine and receive product, or if your timeline is fine with sometime in the new year for one or two bodies then again all will be well. Of course, if you need the new flash as well then that has been back ordered for six months. Another way of looking at this, digital bodies are semi-disposable tools that you will be replacing every 24-36 months. Put your money in the lenses that do what you want or are paid to do and just buy the bodies on schedule with out worrying too much about all the specs. Find a well stocked store, run through the lenses that make you money, then work with the bodies to see if they work logically with your way of thinking. Most of the manufacturers have been pretty consistent with the camera work flow so a Nikon F6 should work pretty much the same as an F5. Canon will not make another film body after the 1v but the digital bodies work pretty much the same way so there will be a consistent logic in how to control the camera. I THINK I might actually learn to like digital with the D2x where I only tolerate it now. ...or do I ditch the bit of Nikon gear I have and get a R film/digital combo kit? ...and what about that rumour of a digital back for the new F6? :^) These are business decision that have to be made soon by many photographers and all this gear is really about pro use. Those that can affort it as a hobby still don't have the same considerations as a pro user.
