I'm absolutely convinced that if the noct somehow had reasonably depth of field at f 1 - say2-3-4-6 inches, people who had paid whatever for the lens would rave out about...The non-existant dof is, to my way of viewing, a real draw-back, particularly as there is absolutely no real-world situation, other than perhaps threading a needle, where that's what the human eye perceives..so I'm reasonably happy with f 2 - at smaller aps there is just too damn much dof... -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Eric Sent: Sunday, May 16, 2004 8:27 AM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: [Leica] Re: PsAW B.D.: >http://gallery.leica-users.org/BDCOLENPHOTOS/Sushi - LOVE that >Noctilux! Nice shot. The white, out of focus highlights are distracting. I would either clone 'em out or burn 'em out. I read through messages, open links, and continue reading while the pictures open. After I saw this, I went back to your message 'cos I thought I must have the wrong link...I thought you had said Noctilux. I expected to see the razor-thin DOF that Rei uses so masterfully. This is why I'm holding out for a full frame, reasonably priced digital. Even at f2, the DOF is relatively huge for the small sensors. -- Eric http://canid.com/ _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
