I would assume that the players you saw were from there (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka). When I was in grad school at the University of Florida in the 80s, there were enough students and professors from that part of the world that there was an annual student-faculty cricket match (of the 1-day, wimpy variety, the real thing is 5 days).
