The result was that they held onto my money (that was rejected) for two weeks. Great way to keep you from overspending on PayPal...freeze my frigging assets (that are taken directly from my checking account) for two weeks. I need to rant. Figured it might help save somebody here trouble in the future, too. I sold my Nikon SLR on ebay. Decided I wasn't using it anymore and wanted to put the money into something else. Used PayPal because that seems to be the defacto standard for money transactions. We (my wife and I) have over a thousand dollars in our PayPal account now. Money that we can't touch because PayPal no longer wants to do business with us. Several years ago, we were the victims of credit card fraud, and suspicious amounts in rubles appeared on our statement. We found that American Express offered one-time use numbers. Generate a credit card number that's good for one time and one time only. It's been great. No more problems with unauthorized credit card charges. Fast foward to PayPal. They apparently don't want our using a one-time credit card to put money into our account. They didn't tell us this. So, they decided to freeze our account for suspicious activity. The only way to reopen it was to fax them a copy of a credit card statement, and a copy of our latest electric bill. We did that. They acknowledged they received them. They decided they don't want to do business with us. They alerted us by... Well, by doing nothing. They promised an email over a week ago telling us of their decision. Nothing. Everytime we called, we got the run around. Finally, today, they said they no longer wanted to do business with us, and they'd hold our $$ for 6 months before refunding it. Grrrr. This was the first time I've used PayPal to receive funds on anything significant.
