It became a centerpiece of Nazi ideology and was shown over and over and over again in German cinemas, well into WWII. Another interesting thing about the film is that is shows how fabulously self-conscious the Nazis were about how they portrayed themselves. It is certainly not true that Riefenstahl had no input into the film apart from setting up the shots, or at least that is an obfuscation. Many parts of the rallies were repeated over and over again for the benefit of the cameras and the film is massively 'directed' in terms of angles and editing... a masterpiece in that respect.
