Well, indirectly, they do.  If one uses a hand-held meter, it probably reads
out to an  EV, and shows the possible f-stop and shutter speed combinations
that will get you a correct exposure.

That usually doesn't hold for M5 and up with internal meters.

Some of us old farts like to do incident readings, and so MY Leica M6 does
use EV settings.  On occassion, my Lika Leica digital has used Exposure
Value.
