Just a thought.  The camera collecting business is going to be like the car
collecting business: as the generations pass the cars with value will change
dramatically.  So a really clean M3 will drop in value whereas a boxed M3
with a serial number in the first ten will hold value for museums.  Nikons
don't fit in with the truly collectable.  Ferrari is to Alpa what Fiat is to
Nikon.  Therefore, if you want to collect an anniversary F5, buy a never
opened one from a dealer and include it with a large collection  that makes
coherent sense.  I don't see much value increase down the road for any film
cameras unless they have historic significance or are part of a much larger
collection that tells a story.

I was in Kansas last fall and there were not too many visitors to the Pony
Express Museum.  I think we were the first visitors that day at 4:00 PM.
