Rich,
I can't vouch for forward compatibility on the handle.  The one for the IV
series is a knurled black aluminum column that screws into the tripod
socket.  Also, with the relative primitive manufacturing of the day, I'm not
sure that the trigger base is fully interchangeable between models.  I would
definitely try before I bought.
