I have the Tri-X, TMax, Delta 100 and 2 Sepia filters. It's not anything that you can't do yourself with channels but it's fast, easy, and relatively cheap. I use them as a starting place, adjusting levels with the eye-droppers and sliders. It's better than converting with just grayscale and comes very close to the B&W film-look. They have a demo you can download and try. Back when I bought them, they did not have the different options for 8-bit, 8-bit enhanced, and 16-bit. The filters then were $35 each. I don't really see the point of the enhanced filters since that goes back to adjusting everything yourself with the channels. That's what you are buying the filters to avoid! If you don't mind using the channels yourself to adjust the values, like using photo-filters, then these filters would be a waste of time and money. Sometimes I think it is fun to work with the channels. Sometimes I just want to get it done! What is better and more fun (and free!) is Russell Brown's conversion to B&W technique that used to be on the Adobe site but is now at www.russellbrown.com. There is a quick-time movie http://www.russellbrown.com/tips/moviesps/colortob&w/mov and a pdf file http://www.russellbrown.com/tips/pdf/colortoB&W.pdf. Only order the Silver Oxides if you want to save time or don't like messing around in photoshop.
