Lug Nuts,
For those of you who have been wondering why Erwin Puts chose to stop
his newsletter, may be you should ask yourselves, if YOU would like to be
referred to at "St. So and So," or "The Lord?" The terms are insulting!
Smiley faces or not, just plain insulting.
How many of you, would like to constantly have you integrity challenged?
How many times does the man have to say, he is not on the Leica payroll?
Erwin drew a lot of flack for his M7 review. Why, because he had an M7
to evaluate long before anyone else and he was brought in early on the
camera's development?
Personally, I was shocked when a retired journalist questioned Erwin's
integrity on the LUG. As a journalist, this man should know about
"cultivating sources," "background briefings" and terms like "off the
record."
There was nothing wrong or unethical in Erwin's behavior as a
journalist.
What most of you forget, is Erwin has the knowledge to talk to the Leica
designers on their own terms. He speaks their language, and I don't mean
German! He possess a deep understanding optical and mechanical design,
that's why he gets the inside information, because he understands them and
they don't have to speak in two syllable words to be understood AND they
trust him to abide by the guidelines both sides agreed upon.
I have, yet, to see anyone of you refute any of this findings!
OK, he speaks glowingly about Leica.. Show me where he is wrong. Not
opinions, facts.
I have yet to meet an intelligent person in any field, who resents
valid, well thought out criticism of their work or products.
A large part, if not most, of the critical opinions posted on the LUG do
not fall into this category.
Erwin Puts has more to offer this forum and any of us, myself included.
As a subscriber to his newsletter, to those of you who drove him off,
thank you...
