I'm interested in doing high quality B&W on my Epson 870. I currently have
a color adjustment layer that I can apply to monochrome RGB images that
gives me very good results using the Epson OEM inks and either PGPP or
Premium Lustre paper.

To take things to the next level, I've ordered a couple of MIS Full
Spectrum Quadtone cartridges. I saw John Brownlow's comment that the MIS
workflow is a PITA, and that he's committed to Piezography. I understand
that the MIS inks can be used with the Cone plug-in, and this is what I'd
ultimately like to try.

Can anyone suggest what I should buy to get the bits I need to experiment?
I want to stick with cartridges for now - b&w is still a low runner for me,
and I don't want to spring for a CIS yet. There's no starter kit specific
to the 870 listed on the Piezography site (they don't have any chipped
carts) - can I buy any of the kits and just use the plugin? Is the plugin
the same for all printers? Is it useful (or even possible) to buy the
software only? And what about profiles? Given that the inks are
different, how could I deal with the profile differences?

Any info is appreciated.

Paul
