There were many wonderful OLD things in California, but unlike most places, when someone wants to build something else, they FLATTEN THEM post haste. In New Orleans, we prefer to preserve them until the next hurricane blows them down. I'm hoping to do much the same as you are doing. It's a great and worthwhile project.
