That has been my experience as well. I keep film in my Domke bag at all times,
and I have had rolls of Delta 3200 that have been throught several scanners in
various European airports before I get around to using them, without any
problems. I have not seen any evidence, ever, of the hand luggage scanners
damaging film in airports in the industrialized world (Western Europe,
N.America, Japan, Australia/NZ etc.).
