While a round hood doesn't have this problem, but a square hood requires that the notch on the hood and the lens be coupled perfectly. Evidently there's a lot of these problems. While as Leica users, we notice these things, and yet when returned for rectifying, Leica said its normal and within their tolerance. I wasn't too happy about this because of the visual eye-sore. But in my case, while Leica refused to do anything, the dealer, out of good-faith, exchanged it for me. Another point I want to make is that the dealer is overseas (not a U.S. dealer), and yet stood behind the aftersales service, while Leica itself arrogantly ignored the issue. - --- Karina Klaas <shutterbug@iinet.net.au> wrote: > Hi John, > > I was reluctant to send my lens back for fear of > having to wait months for > it to be returned but after talking with Leica agent > he has offered to > totally replace my Noctilux lens with a new one so > that cuts down time > without one - this is the only lens I have so no > Noctilux means no working > camera. > > Has anyone out there had a problem identical to this > - misaligned lens hood > on the new Noctilux lens - the Australian agent says > he has seen one or two > cases identical and the reason they are replacing > lens is because they have > to send them back to Germany to get fixed. > > I am happy because turn around time is reduced - but > am really surprised to > come across such an obvious fault with a brand new > lens that costs a small > fortune - goes to show defects are not restricted to > cheap items. > > Karina > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "John Collier" <jbcollier@powersurfr.com> > To: <leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us> > Sent: Saturday, March 02, 2002 1:39 AM > Subject: Re: [Leica] Repositioning Noctlix Lens Hood > > > > Send it back and let Leica do it under warranty. > > > > John Collier > > > > > From: kiklaas@iinet.net.au > > > > > > this is a brand new outfit > > > > -- > > To unsubscribe, see > http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html > > > > -- > To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
