Feel free to ask anything except whether to use filters. :-) For that search the archives. "I'd like to acquire a longer focal length lens to take family photos." For a budget 135, get yourself a Hektor. Around $150; $200 with a case and hood. Greatest bargain going. For 90mm, watch for a tele-elmarit. Even the older rigid 90s perform well stopped down just a little. Both the Hektor and the older 90s will be a match for the Summitar you have and in your price range. But, you will eventually want to try a Summicron 50. Several models, all better than the Summitar (IMHO). Pick a lens, and search the archives for comments about that lens. Each lens comes in about a zillion models over the years, most all still available. The Leica user secret is that if you buy a used lens for $x, you can sell it for close to $x. So, it costs very little to experiment with a used lens. WARNING: you can get hooked on the hardware and forget to take pictures. Best bet is some of both ;-) Bob Rose - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
