Well as the M3 predated the IIIg it might be the M3 morphed into a IIIg ;-)

Leica sold both the M3 and IIIg for a few years. The M3 was the overwhelming
favorite. I expect the same would be true today. And don't think because the
IIIg is smaller than a M6 the cost/price will be less. Oh yea, they can make it
up in volumn ;-)
