If you have the time & energy, I recommend strolling along 16th St. NW, starting @ the White House & going north until you get to Meridian Hill (a.k.a. Malcolm X) Park (you'll end up just a few blocks east of Adams-Morgan). Of Washington's major thoroughfares, I think 16th St. is the most friendly--it has a good selection of public & private architecture & passes through neighborhoods that have plenty of street life. Speaking of street life, Meridian Hill is not only a very nice park w/a nice view of the city & a spectacular cascading fountain--on Sunday afternoons, local drummers & musicians gather for an African-style jam (the cold weather forecast for this weekend may put a damper on turnout, however). Chris - ------------------- I have an opportunity to spend a tourist day (Sunday) in Washington D.C. It is the only free day on a rather intense business trip. Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, National Gallery, Smithsonian. Too much for one day. I plan on taking an M6 and 28, 35, & 75 lenses. Any seasoned visitors or residents that could give me some advice would be appreciated. Thanks Don Lawrence - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
