Why? Well the first picture of the guys on the street is the kind anyone walking along can record without thought. Bang, picture snapped move on, piece of cake. It's one of those easy, been there shoot this, shot done, lets go. Not too much thought process required for exposure or content. I mean this is the kind of thing one could shoot three times, maybe a dozen, screw up every time and return for the 13th and finally getting it right while probably using the same guys. Where as, the alternate requires an astute eye to put the perspective to-gether, girls, fence and White House while creating some thought provoking aspect to it. It illustrates how far away the head guy is from his people, not only that, he's behind this big mama of a fence to keep the animals out. Or in? ;-) There are several scenarios one can read into this photo compared to the paw photo which can be shot quite simply by anyone walking by. The alternate requires someone like yourself with the eye of a photojournalist putting various elements into perspective for an interesting photograph.
