One very good reason to stick tape onto a camera is to stop it sticking to
your face in extremely cold weather.  I recently met an M6 user who did just
that as he had taken his camera to Siberia.  Very wise if you ask me.
However I'm not sure that electrical tape would be any good.  This guy had
used what looked like sticking plaster.  It did give the camera a certain
'injured' look!
