You couldn't start your own business under that guilt system. The only
options to enter were to take over from you father or to marry the widow
of your boss.

Most of that was abandoned during the past 200 or so years :-)

Among the Leitz factory managers there were indeed Ernst Leitz I, II and
III. Just like Ford who however had Edsels in between the Henries. But
the Leitz familiy didn't continue with grandgrandsons Ernst Leitz IIIa,
IIIb, IIIc, IIIg...
