I have been waiting for a long time for somebody to take up the
following point, but nobody has. I will now have a go at it myself.

The new Leica lenses have the lens name, serial number and a few
other things written on on the front rim of the lens, on the surface
parallell to the film plane. The letters seem to be much larger than
on older lenses, and the paint much brighter, but this may be due to
the paint having faded on my old lenses. I am sure that this
lettering and numbering will cause a lot of internal reflections when
I put on my "safety glasses" UV filter, so I have covered the
letters and the numbers with black tape. What do you think of this
idea?

(Sorry Jim, I could not resist that one.)
