While I agree with the Leica's primary use being available light, handheld shots of (primarily) people, I can see why someone would like to use the Leica M or R for stuff that has traditionally been the MF or LF stuff. For one, your equipment is going to way much less, so there less stuff to haul. Secondly, you can get some pretty amazing results. George Lauterstein who was (is?) a member of this list and the LTM list used (I believe) an M2 and 50mm DR Summicron almost exclusively and got some of the most amazing nature photographs I've ever seen with this setup. I think he shot everything on a tripod, at f/16. Finally, of course, there's the challenge. The question of just how good stuff can you get with such small equipment? The joy lies in pushing the limits, something that wouldn't be as fun in MF or LF, because getting there is easier.
