Hi Vick,

As a leica slr user since they arrived on the street many moons ago,
usually 2 or 3 camera s at a time, although I rarely had trouble with
any model, the R4 as soon as it came out created much grief.. Those
problems seem to have appeared due to the electronics which were a carry
over from the R3, which unfortunately I felt from all the grief
encountered by most f the people I know who used them it was only useful
as an anchor on a boat!

Having said that, there are many R3 users quite delighted with their R3,
nary a problem. However I've never personally met one who hasn't had a
whack of problems. My suggestion? Send it to Leica for servicing and
or get your money back and buy another mode, I certainly wouldn't
entertain a "doing it yourself" repair. you might be writing it off all to-gether!

I'm sure if you wait a bit there will be a number of suggestions on this matter.

ted
