As much I love my M3, my two M6s, my Leicaflex SL and my R8, I submit that Leica's strength lies in the lenses, which are second to none. It would be a natural extension, then, for Leica to enter the medium format market with a range of optics, perhaps in co-operation with Fuji or Mamiya so that the existing MF rangefinder bodies made by those two companies could serve to hold the film. Yes, such lenses would be very expensive and have limited appeal, but that is true of Leica's 35mm stuff as well. The mass market will never be Leica's playground.
