Austin-
Being a person to usually give a smart ass answer, I' d tend to say, " Send
that lousy piece of crap to me!- I'll take care of it, m'self!"
On the other hand, I am aware that even something like a Leica can fail-
Hell, if NASA can spend 8 squillion dollars on a satelite that won't work
once it gets 'there'- then an occasional glitch from a Leica is no big deal!
My experience is to send it to Leica, directly to NJ, do not pass 'GO'- the
upside is that it is quicker.
Since one of my treasured Leicas is 60 years old, and still truckin'- I
would assure you that your's was probably a case analogous to the computer
chip (HORRORS!)- If they don't fail inside the first thirty days, they tend
to last damn near forever!
Leicas are like that! If they last for the first five years, without
trouble, then they tend to go one for several decades without needing
anything more than an occassional cleaning!
Good Luck!- Once you get it fixed, you should be good to go until at least-
2030!
