Dr. B. D.: >>>why the company can't offer to sell - AT COST - an M
body and 50 Summicron to any student majoring in photography in a
recognized
BFA or MFA program. THAT's how to introduce Leica to a new generation of

photographers<<<

Heh-heh. Didn't go to art school, did you, B.D.? I did. You'd have most
of your "buyers" reselling them at a profit for extra cash. When Armand
Hammer used to give fundraisers for Ronald Reagan up in the atrium of
the Corcoran, the caterers would put the picked-over platters of _hors
d'ouvres_ out in the hall of the school in the basement, and the "art
dogs" would cluster around like sparrows around bread scraps. For some
it was the best meal they'd eat all week.

And half the people on the Internet would be gleefully reporting, "I
just got a great deal on a near-new M6 from an art student...."

Besides, Leica doesn't want any of YOU guys knowing what "cost" is. <s>
