Alex:

Mine came from NY and is a machined brass piece.  Novoflex makes one as
well.  The metering is at working aperture and you can use aperture
priority automatic.  The aperture is manual of course since the EOS
actuates its aperture electronically not mechanically.  The Novoflex
adapters are about $175 and this one came from a guy I bought an R7 from
and cost me $100.
