Subject: Re: [Leica] SBOOI? Getting along with IIIf with Summicron

Some time ago, I purchased a screw-in lens hood for the current Elmar - M
1:2.8/50mm lens which I use with my 50 mm collapsible summicron on a M6. The
thread is 39mm and the part no. is 12549. It's smaller than IROOA (which I
also have) and doesn't obscure the M-viewfinder image as much as the IROOA
shade.

My guess is that it also creates some vignetting of the image, especially
since I use it in conjuction with a UV filter, but practically I see little
or no image degradation. Another advantage of using this shade is that the
lens cap will fit. (42mm).

I spent about $35 US for the shade.

I picked up this suggestion from someone in the LUG - it wasn't the product of
original thought. It's a cheap experiment should you decide to try this
solution for IIIf viewing image improvement .
