Marvin,

The R8 information bar on the bottom of the screen is quite unobtrusive for
my eye. I realize others don't like it in any camera, but as you
say,<<that's what makes horse racing.>>.

I only glance at the numbers occaisionly, particularly in the R8 in regard
to how much film I have left, as I've found that to be one of the most
useful information things if you are shooting quickly.

The other is, It allows me to keep track of the "camera selected shutter
speeds" as I work predominatly with aperture priority  and as long as I
have a shutter speed I know I can hand hold, then I can blaze away! :)

But to each his own, most of the time I'm looking right at the subject,
action, composition, colour and does this look like a "good photograph or
scene!".To bother with the information at hand.

And sometimes my inattention to the in camera information allows me to
screw-up because I didn't pay attention! :)
