For great example photographs of this fine lens, see David Douglas Duncan's
"Self-Portrait, USA". He used a 400 Telyt to record some amazing portraits
at the presidential conventions in 1968. Toward the back is a picture of
him hand-holding the 400, I think on an SL (the book is out on loan).

He shot wide-open for the portraits, and the sharpness and detail are
amazing, even in the pages of this very large book. I have seen
"Self-Portrait, USA" going from $10-$25 in used books stores.

I also took the same approach awhile back with a 280/4.8 Telyt by putting a
short extension tube on my first version lens. Normal closest focus is 19
feet. The extension gave me tight head shots at a maximum focus distance of
about 12 feet. I was really pleased with a few B&W prints that have that
same detail and intense feel that Duncan got with the 400. For my SL, there
was quite a set of adapters for this lens - OUBIO Viso to M adapter, 14127F
M to R adapter, then the R extension tube. Even with all that, the mount
was still solid as a rock!
