Sonny Rollins vs. Kenny G, Nicholas Harnoncourt vs. Jean-Pierre Rampal, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli vs. Liberace, "mountain" country music vs. crossover country-rock, Alanis Morisette vs. Whitney Houston, gospel vs. rap, the Pixies vs. John Cougar Mellencamp, Metallica vs. Morrissey, John Adams vs. John Tesh--the list could go on forever. Anyone who is discriminating about music will love certain things and hate other things--and in some cases even hate them with a passion. Art lovers have strong passions. It's not a question of open-mindedness or close-mindedness. Anyone who accepts all art with equal tolerance and zero discrimination is completely, _completely_ missing the point. Hell, even people who really like _television_ know which shows they like and which they don't.
