It's a nice idea, so nice in fact that Leica have already done just
this. If you believe that the highest quality Leica is capable of
achieving in a camera is defined by the M3 or the M6J, then the
current M6 is (and always was) actually a cost reduced 'poverty
model' (to steal a phrase from the automotive industry) aimed at
increasing sales.
