The Noctilux probably will not be flare-free under the conditions you want
to shoot--few lenses would be.  It will, however, be the best lens at
F1.0...

The point is that the lens is almost unique--it can do things that no other
lens can do.  It will get you a picture where you might not be able to get
that picture even at f1.4.  If that is the case, and it is, will you really
notice if there is a little flare or if there is a slight drop off on the
edges?  You are hardly shooting under optimal conditions for a useful lens
test.

I shot for fifteen years for a midwest daily, using mostly leica and some
Nikon gear.  The first rule, almost, of that kind of work is to get the
image on the film.  Focus, for sure, but if it isn't razor sharp because
you had to shoot wide open at 1.4 for 1/15 or 1/8, don't worry.  The
important thing is to get the picture.  A Noctilux will let you get that
picture.
