It is interesting to see how large an image circle most of the R lenses have, I sent Doug some links to the Mamiya 300mm f2.8 APO on the S2 a while back ;-)

Hi John,
Thanks. I have seen that thread before. Hence my curiosity. I am not interested in using the adapter for short focal lengths, as Leica make lenses to suit (if you can afford them). But there is a distinct lack of longer focal lengths, which I do use. Thus I wanted to know if the 280/4 would focus at a reasonable distance to shoot motorsport or aircraft. Also i anted to know if the 180/2 would focus to enable me to do concert and stage shots.
Doug Herr, of course, is interested, as he is, like me, one of the last few remaining DMR shooters. Hence I have corresponded with him as well, off list.
Best wishes,
Charlie

The rumoured 350 S lens may well not happen. Focus is manual of course with stop down metering. The max focus distance is limited, unless you send the lenses to Leica for adjustment.

My newer copy (ROM) focuses only slightly past infinity and even has a different focussing pitch. Sounds like the older version is a better fit for the S2 + lei-ko adapter.
