The reproduction ratio is 1:7 vs. 1:9 for that 90. That means a minimum field width of 10 inches for the 75 vs 13 inches for the 90. So it is quite a difference despite the shorter focal length. It is also much more compact and lighter too. I don't know about prices where you are but here at least the 75 is actually "cheaper" new than the 90. I don't have any current used prices comparisons. There are other 90 options, used at least, of course if that is the length you want. The viewfinder frames are easier to use than those for the 75, btw. Anyway some 75 samples if you are interested. I just went out into some fairly fierce mid morning light and shot some more close ups vs. my (Macro Elmar) 90. I think that you will be surprised. I'll post some uncropped comparisons soon http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman/image/119381979 http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman/image/118188935 http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman/image/101824440 http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman/image/101180894 http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman/image/119520958 Cheers Geoff http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman On 7 November 2010 09:46, Tim Gray <tgray at 125px.com> wrote: > On Nov 07, 2010 at 09:43 AM +1030, Marty Deveney wrote: > >> The 90 APO is very impressive, but at portrait distances it is less >> impressive than further away - the absence of a floating element >> starts to show and there is noticeable curvature of field.
