Last year my wife ordered from a Korean firm a portable computer display. She was anticipating the first week of recovery from an eye operation in which she would have to be face down 90% of the time, and wanted a display that she could set on the floor. The vendor did not tell her that the display would not work with a Mac, so she returned it for refund--it had been charged to our Visa card via Paypal. One day the refund appeared on our Visa account, and the next day it disappeared. Paypal claimed that it had been returned to the vendor in Korea because SHE HAD AUTHORIZED it. A couple of weeks of phone calls to Paypal did no good, and she finally sued in small claims court. Paypal actually sent a paralegal with log sheets to impress the judge, no kidding. They claimed their software was so perfect that the only way the refund could have been returned would be her authorization. The judge didn't even bother to look at those records. His only comment before he found in her favor was "Why would she do that?"
