Out of curiosity, I just tried this.

I downloaded an updated version of Vuescan that could scan to DNG
files (mine couldn't, but I hadn't updated for a couple of years). I
did all the choices and got me a DNG scan.

Cool, I thought. Until I opened it in Lightroom and for the life of me
couldn't figure out how to invert a negative to a positve.

Opened Photoshop from within Lightroom (assumes you don't have a life
and don't mind watching your machine with 2gb of internal memory
swapping around, since you forgot to close Firefox that you were using
to read the help files on Adobe's site) ...

And to make a long story short ... I never did figure it out. I could
do it in Photoshop, but then I was no longer working with my DNG file
but with a PSD file that Photoshop works with.

I only have the first version of Lightroom. Maybe the second version
can handle this properly.
