Thanks Leo and Chris,

Both of you seem to work like I do (I more or less only work with
histograms ... color balance isn't usually an issue for me).

This stuff between Mac and PC is never something I've felt influenced
by. I've had a PC for a few years now and just would like a change. I
work a lot with command lines and the Unix-like operating system
behind the Mac appeals to me.

Since Lightroom came with both a Mac and a PC version, it's fairly
undramatic to make the change. I'll have to check out Vuescan first,
but I can't image there should be any problems. At one time the Nikon
Coolscans were giving headaches, but I think we're talking about years
ago.

I think I'll go shopping tomorrow.
